Pricing: what the COD platform actually costs
No subscription and no percentage commission: the fees are confirmation at 10,00 MAD per order, delivery depending on the city, and a return fee if the parcel comes back.
The essentials
- What is it?
- CODFamilia pricing consists of three per-unit fees and no fixed charge. The confirmation fee is 10,00 MAD per order; delivery fees are set city by city; return fees apply only when a parcel comes back. There is no monthly subscription, no account-opening charge, and no commission taken on revenue.
- Who is it for?
- The model applies to every seller on the platform, at any volume. A seller who dispatches ten orders pays the confirmation and delivery fees ten times and nothing more; a seller who dispatches nothing in a month pays nothing that month.
- How does it work?
- The fees are not invoiced separately: they are deducted from the amount collected from the customer, order by order, at the moment the profit is worked out. The seller makes no payment to the platform; they receive what is left.
- What is it for?
- A percentage commission charges more to a seller with a higher price point for identical work: the same call, the same parcel, the same delivery. Per-unit fees track the real cost of the service, and let a seller work out their margin before spending a dirham on advertising.
- How do you use it?
- Apply the formula: profit = total paid by the customer − CODFamilia product price − confirmation fee − delivery fee. The first two terms come from your selling price and the product page; the third is 10,00 MAD; the fourth is on the delivery cities page, which covers 65 cities.
Using CODFamilia costs neither a subscription nor a percentage commission on revenue: the only charges are a confirmation fee of 10,00 MAD per order, a delivery fee specific to the destination city, and a return fee if the parcel comes back.
No subscription, no commission on revenue
There is nothing to pay to have an account, and nothing to pay each month to keep it. A registered seller who sells nothing for three months owes the platform nothing for those three months. That is the starting point of the model, and it explains why an account can stay open through a testing period at no cost.
There is no percentage commission either. No share of the amount collected from the customer is taken as a rate. The difference sounds technical; it is not. Under a rate, a seller moving up in price point sees their fees rise while the work the platform does — one call, one parcel, one delivery — is the same. Under per-unit fees, that work is charged for what it is.
What is paid, then, is paid per order, and only on orders that actually exist. Three per-unit fees and nothing else: the next section sets out each one with the exact moment it applies.
The three fees that exist, and when they apply
Two of these fees apply even when the sale fails. That is the most important fact on this page, because it is what separates an estimated margin from a real one.
| Fee | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Confirmation | 10,00 MAD per order | Once per order, from the confirmation call. Nil if the seller is authorised to confirm their own leads |
| Delivery | Depends on the destination city | On dispatch of the parcel, whether it is delivered or not |
| Return — refused after viewing | Configured for this case | When the customer saw the product, refused it, and the parcel comes back |
| Return — customer unreachable | Configured separately for this case | When the customer could not be reached for delivery and the parcel comes back |
The profit formula, term by term
The profit on a delivered order is worked out as: seller profit = total paid by the customer − CODFamilia product price − confirmation fee − delivery fee. There is no hidden fifth term, and none of the four is a percentage.
Take any order and follow the calculation without numbers. Call T the total the customer pays the courier — you set it, and it is the amount quoted on the phone, delivery included. Call P the product price shown on its CODFamilia page. Call D the delivery fee for the customer's city. Your profit is then T − P − 10,00 MAD − D, and it is posted to your wallet at the moment the courier collects the cash.
| Line of the calculation | What it is | Where to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Total paid by the customer | Your selling price, delivery included | You set it, and it is quoted during the call |
| − Product price | What the product costs you on this order | On the catalogue product page |
| − Confirmation fee | 10,00 MAD, once per order | The same for every order |
| − Delivery fee | The rate for the destination city | On the delivery cities page |
| = Profit credited | What comes to you | In your wallet, on delivery |
What costs nothing
- The account — Creating, approving and keeping the account, with no opening charge and no subscription.
- Catalogue access — Browsing the 1 products in the public catalogue, with their prices and stock, before having sold anything at all.
- The platform itself — The dashboard, leads, orders, customers, inventory, statements, reports, stores and settings.
- The integrations — Connecting a YouCan store, importing from Google Sheets, webhooks, and the REST API with its keys.
- Storage and packing — Catalogue products are stored and packed by the platform; no storage fee is charged to the seller.
- Tracking for the end customer — The public parcel-tracking page, which the customer uses with no account.
- The academy — Online courses on selling with COD, some of them open to the public without signing up.
- Confirmation, if you do it yourself — A seller authorised to confirm their own leads pays no confirmation fee. In exchange, the call, the callback and the note are their work.
The cost the platform does not charge, and which weighs most
Advertising is almost always a COD seller's first expense, ahead of the product and ahead of the platform's fees. It appears on no statement because it is not paid to the platform: it goes straight to the advertising network, and the platform does not know the amount.
It has one property that makes it heavier than it looks: it is paid per lead, not per sale. A lead that does not confirm has cost its budget; a parcel that comes back has cost its budget, the delivery fee and the return fee. A seller measuring their advertising cost per order received is therefore wrong every time; the useful figure is the cost per order delivered and paid for.
It is also why this page cannot answer the question "how much does it cost to sell with COD". The platform's fees are known in advance and identical for everyone. The advertising cost depends on the product, the advert and the audience, and two sellers paying exactly the same platform fees can end up with opposite results.
How the platform makes its money
The platform earns from two things only: the product price it shows the seller, and the confirmation fee. Nothing is taken from the seller's revenue, and nothing depends on the seller's selling price.
That has a direct consequence worth stating plainly: the higher you sell, the more you earn, and the platform earns not one dirham more. The incentives are aligned on a successful delivery rather than on the size of the sale, since the product price is only charged on orders that are actually delivered.
Delivery fees, finally, are not margin: they correspond to transport, and they vary from city to city for that reason. The delivery cities page gives the current detail, precisely because a transport rate changes and a sentence written once does not.
